Welcome to Sligo Advanced Physiotherapy

Sligo Advanced Physiotherapy is a new musculoskeletal and sports injury practice specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal and sport’s related injuries. I have completed a Clinical Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and an additional Clinical Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland, Australia since graduating from University College Dublin with a Physiotherapy degree.

The aim for my practice is to provide top quality evidence based diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal and sport's injuries with the benefit of 11 years of clinical experience in musculoskeletal and sports clinics in both Ireland and Australia and the specialist knowledge and clinical skills gained from my postgraduate Masters in Sports and Musculoskeletal medicine /Physiotherapy.

What is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy?

Back and neck pain as well as reduced movement are the most common Musculoskeletal injury/conditions that we tend to suffer from at some point in our life. Other common problem areas are shoulders, hips, knees, hands and feet. Basically, all areas of our body are vulnerable to pain and reduced movement from the repetitive strains of normal day life. Unfortunately, if it moves you can hurt it!! Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy can help.

What qualifications does a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist have?

A Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist has completed a 4 year Physiotherapy degree and after sufficient experience in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions may have undertaken a postgraduate Clinical Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy to develop further skills in this specialised field of Physiotherapy.

What is Sports Physiotherapy?

Sports Physiotherapy is a specialized branch of physiotherapy that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of injuries/conditions experienced by athletes as well as the development of strength and conditioning programmes for injury prevention and performance enhancement. Sports injuries range from elite athletes to the rest of us normal people who like to be involved in some physical activity. The great news is we are all athletes!! (most of us just don’t get paid for it!!)
